Del Rey Education launches Florida organization!
After two years of planning, Del Rey Education Florida is finally launched, with plans to open 20 schools across the Sunshine State over the next 10 years.

Addressing The Need
We see in the erosion of civil discourse and other issues that plague modern society the need for honesty, integrity, respect, courage, charity, and the other virtues that allow society to function in a civil manner. We see the coming generations prepared for employment, but lacking the ability to think critically and independently. Each successive generation is losing the knowledge, civic understanding and cultural literacy (deep understanding of our culture, its history and roots, or its context) necessary to function as a free society.
Educating the Whole Person
In considering the best type of education to bring to the area, it was decided that the classical model, and its approach to developing the "whole individual" is something that is much needed. We believe that it's objective of developing "thinkers" who exhibit good character and citizenship, in addition to exceptional academics, would be a tremendous addition to this diverse area of Los Angeles, especially as a tuition-free school.
“No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when Knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved.” - Samuel Adams
A Return to the Tried and True
In its approach to creating "thinkers," the classical curriculum incorporates subjects that, although commonly taught just a generation ago, are being abandoned in current education. Subjects like music and musicianship, which is the only activity known to engage nearly every part of the brain and tremendously enhance its capacity, are becoming "extracurricular." Or, Latin, which enables the mind to more easily acquire new skills, ranging from software programming, to social interaction, to other languages, but is being discarded as "outdated" by modern, vocation-oriented education.
A Community Effort
The launch of Del Rey Education has been through the efforts of a number of longstanding, tried and true community volunteers. Del Rey's Florida board is made up of a diverse group of individuals who have dedicated a significant portion of their lives to serving their communities, and will continue those efforts for the coming generations of Floridians.
